    Description

    This auction is for
    1
    Esterbrook nib 1555 Fine
This nib is interchangeable with 33+ others by simply screwing the point out of the pen and screwing a new one back in its place.
    Here’s what you will receive:
    1. One 1555 Firm Fine Esterbrook nib that was marketed to secretaries in the 1950-60s who took shorthand using the GREGG method.  The nib(s) are
    mint but no box.
    2. You will also receive a good copy an old Esterbrook magazine ad.
These nibs fit all of the
    Esterbrook
    pens made in
    America
from about 1935 until they went out of business in the early seventies.
The uniqueness and really big reason that has driven the collectabilty of the pens and nibs (also distinguishing them from nearly all other makers) is that each nib is engineered to easily screw in and out of the section at the top of the barrel anytime and for whatever reason you want. Changing nibs is effortless and requires no experience.
    Many
    Esterbrook
users owned 1 pen but bought several different type nibs and changed them out at their pleasure instead of having to take the pen to the pen store or having to send the pen back to the manufacturer when a change was necessary or desirable.
    The Red and White boxes
    constitute the
1000 Series and 2000 Series of
    Esterbrook
    ’s Renew Points
, These nibs have, as their writing surface, a continuation of the chrome , rolled up and formed into a writing surface, that the rest of the nib is made of. I have yet to wear one out.
The green boxes constitute the Master
Series, or the 9000 Series, which were always more expensive because their writing surface consists of applied Iridium. (They called their particular alloy “Osmiridium."
And of course, international buyers are responsible for whatever import fees may be imposed by their country.
